OK, so that title is a mouthful…
but oh my gosh….
this is one of those sinful,
nothing should taste this good,
and be this easy recipes!
I do have to give a little helpful hint for crock pot use though.
Get yourself a Christmas tree light timer
and use it on your crock pot.
I made this a few weeks ago as an after track meet dinner.
I have distance kids… which means we have the first and last event…
ALL day at the meet.
This only needs to cook about 4-5 hours so,
out came the trusty light timer
- one loaf of sandwich bread cut in half on the diagonal
- one package of bacon – partially cooked
- three bananas
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 eggs
- olive oil to lightly coat inside of crock pot
Lightly coat crock with olive oil. Slice bananas in to 1/4 inch think pieces. Place in bowl. Add cinnamon and stir gently (you don’t want banana mash!) until banana pieces are coated. Cut each piece of bread in half diagonally. Spread Nutella on one side. Lay bread, Nutella side up in crock pot, covering bottom of crock. Place a layer of one third of the bacon on top of bread. Now, place another layer of bread, Nutella side down over bacon. Sprinkle about half of the bananas over this bread layer. Next, place another layer of bread, Nutella side up, on top of bananas. Add another third of bacon on top of Nutella and top with another layer of bread, Nutella side down. Top with remaining bananas. Repeat bread, bacon, bread layer a third and final time… using remaining bacon. Combine milk, eggs and vanilla and pour over top of the layers. Cook, on low for 4-5 hours. Serve with syrup and/or powdered sugar. (My kids liked the syrup… personally, I liked just powdered sugar).
dinner is served when we get home!
There is a little more prep work to this crock pot meal than many of my other ones,
but, trust me,
it is ooooh so worth it!
