I admit it,
I like giving gift cards…
they are sometimes the best way to show some one you are thinking of them…
especially my coffee loving friends.
I mean, I can’t always take them out for coffee
but, I can buy them a coffee when it works for them
(you know, on a crazy monday morning,
an ahhh it’s friday, a we are almost to the weekend wednesday!)
just handing some one a gift card can seem kinda lame…
so…. why not hand them a coffee cup with a gift card inside?
Creating this card was super easy…
the hardest part for me,
picking out the colors and deciding who gets this one!
To make this,
you will need,
a gift card ,
a mug template,
3D dimensional tape
and what ever you want to decorate your cup with.
(I will include links to everything at the end of the post)
Let’s start by decorating the band on the cup.
I used a piece of A Muse Buttercup card stock
and Golddust Splash spray.
I spritzed all over the ‘belly band’ and then let it dry.
(Don’t worry if it curls up a bit… it flattened right out when I stuck it down).
I then attached it to the cup and used scissors to trim where my ends didn’t quite match.
I just love how sparkly this looks in real life…
the picture doesn’t do it justice!
I stamped my saying on the bottom of the cup.
It’s important that you do this step now,
rather than later…
It’s hard to stamp after the whole thing is put together! 🙂
I used a fun saying from my new set,
by A Muse!
After you get the front looking the way you want,
slide the gift card in and flip the front cup over.
(Note: I should’ve lowered my card a bit more… it’s tight in the envelope,
next time I will measure first! 🙂 )
After you have the card positioned where you want it,
surround it with the 3D tape.
It’s important to put a piece at the bottom of the gift card so it
doesn’t slide in out of view!
Peal off the back of the tape,
flip it over and attach it to the bottom cup.
I did run a piece of non-deminsional adhesive on the lid,
just to make it lay a little nicer.
no belly band is complete without a little bling!
I thought a fun little 3D flower was perfect with this gift card design!
And of course,
you should never forget the packaging after all the work you did on the holder…
Add a little splash and stamps to the envelope for some extra fun!
Coffee Cup – from silhouette
(you don’t have to have the machine,
you can print the design on paper and cut it out by hand,
just use an exact-o knife for the slit at the top)
Stamps (Basket Case),
and sprays are from
Flower from Michael’s clearance bin
3D tape – stash bashing – I think from Walmart
Gift Card from Starbucks.
